Communication Skills for Teachers! Improving the relationship of over 1,000,000 Teachers and Students in the Classroom

My goal is to transform and improve 1,000,000 Teacher – Student relationships right around the world.

The classroom can be a place of learning or it can be a battle ground!
Which classroom are you teaching in?

Everyone knows that a big part of teaching is being about to Communicate Effectively to everyone else in the classroom and in the School. Go to any library and you will find there are more books on the shelf about communication than almost anything else. I know that you remember something about active listening, body language and posture and everyone knows that stuff can easily get lost in the classroom or school setting.

Teaching is more than just imparting knowledge to students. Teaching is also about effective communication and without the capacity to effectively communicate to people of all age groups – well, you are a rubbish Teacher. That's it. You may think you are clever and have a diploma in education and teaching, but if you cannot be understood by your students, let them feel listened to or cared about by you, you are not doing your job.

When effective communication is missing, Teachers can misunderstand or be ignorant of students needs and expectations; furthermore students may not feel listened to or feel understand, and then they start acting out in other ways to get their needs met.

You can probably think of many occasions when lack of communication has left you feeling angry or worried. When people are ill, vulnerable or coping with bereavement the effects of poor communication can result in more than minor irritation.

I am going to guess that you have come to this site looking for really good effective communication skills because right now things are not working out for you in your life. Am I right?
And you want to know what communication skills are actually going to work because these people are so frustrating. And you have tried everything under the sun to get these people to communicate with you and nothing has worked at all. Has it?It is almost like you have come to a door that is locked, You have knocked on the door and there is no answer, you have pounded your fists on the door, you have rung the doorbell, you have shouted at the top of your lungs to let you in and still there is no answer. You have even tried every single key on your key-ring and not a single key is working. Nothing at all is working. You just can’t find the right way to get that door unlocked. You feel stuck, out in the cold and not knowing what to do next.
All you want is to feel understood, to feel listened to. All you want is to feel heard, to feel appreciated to feel special, to feel important. And, right now, you could quite possibly be sitting there saying to yourself
“Communication? What communication? People around me don’t know how to communicate at all.” “ It is time they went and learnt how to communicate properly” “They definitely need to go and do a communication skills course.”
“People who know how to communicate properly know how to listen!”
“People who do communicate properly don’t have these problems!”
“Communication would really help right now!”

I even bet that you can probably relate to one of the following situations:
You are going through your life stressing out because someone is not listening to you. And, if they did actually listen to you then things would be so much better. And you have been wondering “What can I say to get this person to listen to me?” or “What do I have to do to get some respect around here?” “Gees, I really wish you would listen to what I am saying, and not just make a joke of this!” “I am trying to tell you something important here, and you just don’t’ care!”

Or being a teacher can be a really rewarding profession. And sometimes there are those moments when everything that you have been taught at UNI does not help you at all in the situation. The classroom behavior of those kids is something that you have never experience before, and punishments and rewards simply do not work. They don’t’ bother to do their homework, they are constantly playing “tricks” , yelling out across the room, and when asked to take out their books, they simply start a riot. How on earth do you get these kids to settle down and do their work? Communication Skills for Teachers

Communication as we have just seen is an absolute necessity in life. Communication is the flow of life. Communication is what keeps people understanding each other. Communication is what keeps the relationships together. Communication is what resolves conflicts.

Communication is the KEY that unlocks all the doors.

I can tell you from personal first hand experience that

If you are not feeling listened to (then the door is locked)
If you are arguing and not getting anywhere (then the door is locked)
If you are feeling over powered (then the door is locked)
If your needs are not being met (then the door is locked)
If you are compromising on anything (then the door is locked)
If you are using punishments to get things done (then the door is locked)
If you are using rewards to get things done (then the door is locked)
If there is resistance and temper tantrums (then the door is locked)

And what unlocks all these doors is the way you communicate.

Communication is the key that unlock all the doors

Communication is the KEY to getting co-operation with your students.
Communication is the KEY that allows us to feel understood.
Communication is the KEY for resolving conflicts between teachers and students.
Communication is the KEY to let students know what your needs are and how best to meet those needs.
Communication is the KEY to fewer conflicts in the classroom and in the playground.
Communication is the KEY to building self confidence and self esteem.
Communication is the KEY to feeling listened to by your students.
Communication is the KEY to mutual respect in the classroom.
Communication is the KEY to less resistance & more cooperation.
Communication is the KEY to everyone feeling safe to be themselves.
Communication is the KEY to more fun for everyone in the classroom.

I can tell you from first hand experience that everything that I am going to share with you in these pages will optimize your chances of getting that door unlocked and getting the communication to flow once again. And allowing you to manage a classroom that is full of respect, understanding, listening, co-operation, and FUN.
